Privacy Policy

The short version
Your personal data — contacts, favourite apps, and settings — stays on your device. We don't sell data and we don't run ads. The one exception is anonymous crash reports and basic usage statistics, which we collect via Google Firebase so we can find and fix bugs. Details below.
Who we are
Wren Home is an Android home app designed to make smartphones simpler for elderly users. If you have questions about this policy, you can reach us at hello@wrenhome.app.
What the app accesses
Installed apps
Wren Home needs to know which apps are installed on your device so it can display them in the app grid and allow you to add favourites. This list is read locally on your device and is never sent anywhere.
Contacts (optional)
If you choose to add family contacts to the home screen, Wren Home will request permission to read your contacts. This is used solely to display names and photos on your home screen. Contact data is never uploaded, shared, or stored outside the app.
You can revoke this permission at any time in your Android settings (Settings → Apps → Wren Home → Permissions).
Phone calls (optional)
If you use the one-tap calling feature, the app will request permission to make phone calls on your behalf. This permission is only used when you tap a contact's call button. Wren Home does not log, record, or transmit any information about the calls you make.
Text messages (optional)
If you tap a contact's message button, Wren Home opens your device's existing messaging app with the contact's number pre-filled. Wren Home does not request permission to read or send SMS messages itself — it simply hands off to the messaging app you already use.
Data storage
Your favourite apps, family contacts, layout preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device in an on-device database and in Android's standard preference storage. None of this personal data is sent to our servers or shared with any third party.
If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is deleted by Android automatically.
Crash reporting and usage statistics
Wren Home uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect anonymous crash reports when the app stops unexpectedly. This helps us find and fix bugs. A crash report includes technical information such as the device model, Android version, the app version, a stack trace showing where the crash happened, and a non-identifying installation ID generated by Firebase.
Wren Home also includes the Google Firebase Analytics SDK, which collects basic, anonymised usage statistics such as app opens, session duration, device model, country, and Android version. We use this data only in aggregate to understand whether the app is working for people.
Crash reports and analytics do not include your contacts, the names or numbers of people you call or message, the apps you launch, the photos on your device, or any other personal information from inside Wren Home. Data sent to Firebase is processed by Google under Firebase's privacy and security terms .
Wren Home does not contain any advertising SDKs, marketing trackers, or profiling libraries.
This website
This website (wrenhome.app) is a static site served via Cloudflare. Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs (IP addresses, browser type, pages visited) as part of its infrastructure. We do not run our own analytics on this site. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Children's privacy
Wren Home is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we ever make material changes to this policy — for example, if a future version of the app adds cloud sync or expands what we collect — we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date above. We will not change data practices without updating this policy first.
